Eureka Day

City Theatre
March 7-29, 2026

  • By Jonathan Spector

Fresh from Broadway (though detoured from DC – Google it ), this all too timely, bitingly funny comedy takes place during several board meetings at an ultra-progressive California school proud of its inclusivity and commitment to consensus – at least until a mumps outbreak reveals varying views (like, everyone’s) on vaccination. In “one of the funniest plays to open [all] year” (The New York Times) parents dance the line of advocating for their children while trying not to offend...anyone.

In a charming countryside getaway, a group of lovers is hurled into chaos when one bold confession sets off a chain reaction of betrayals, surprises, and shifting alliances. As secrets surface and tempers spark, loyalties rearrange themselves by the minute, and tangled love affairs collide during one chaotic weekend. The Grand Duke

Pittsburgh Savoyards
March 20-29, 2026

  • Gilbert & SullivanSet in 1750 in the tiny Grand Duchy of Pfennig-Halbpfennig, Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Grand Duke follows a beleaguered theatrical troupe plotting to overthrow the miserly, hypochondriacal Grand Duke Rudolph. When Ludwig’s wedding is stalled and all parsons are mysteriously summoned away, a wildly comic scheme unfolds involving sausage-roll signals, a bizarre “statutory duel” by playing cards, roulette, mistaken identities, and four would-be brides. Gilbert’s razor-sharp wit and Sullivan’s buoyant score drive the farce to a perfectly topsy-turvy conclusion.

The Forge: Speakeasy

Aria412
March 24, 2026

  • Slip past the ordinary and into Pittsburgh’s most intoxicating era for an unforgettable evening of live music and storytelling at the Original Pittsburgh Winery.

When Prohibition went national in 1920, Pittsburgh didn’t panic; it perfected the art of the speakeasy. Behind butcher counters and soda fountains, a glittering underground thrived. The drinks were hidden, the music was hot, and the women running the show were anything but silent.

From early saloon legend Kate Hester to Prohibition powerhouse Goldie Lerner, this immersive night of song uncorks the glamour, grit, and daring ambition that defined a city determined to live loudly — even in whispers.

Lucy Chen

Kelly Strayhorn Theater
April 3-4, 2026

  • By Lucy Chen

Femininity. Sexuality. Perception. Expectation. Dressed in Red explores these ideas and our shifting self and social identities through a blend of movement and video performance. Inspired by Classical Chinese dance and contemporary movement, Dressed in Red reflects on Lucy’s experience of the complex relationship between how we see ourselves, how we present ourselves, and how others see us.

Utilizing video media and a costume that transforms throughout the performance, the dancers explore self-expression and connection/tension with their communities, within the lens of what it means to be feminine. Audiences witness an evolving narrative of feminine identity and are encouraged to contemplate their own experiences with their image, and how we perform our gender and sexuality.

10 Out of 12

Quantum Theatre
April 3 – 26, 2026

  • Written by Anne Washburn, directed by Andrew William Smith

    “Ten minutes, everyone. Ten minutes!”

Step backstage — without leaving your seat. The title 10 Out of 12 refers to the number of hours the Actor’s Union allows for one very long day in the technical process of building a show. Accomplished playwright Anne Washburn catapults us into the world beyond the curtain, capturing the magical chaos of a tech rehearsal when lights, sound, and costumes collide with nerves (and personalities) in anticipation of opening night.

Always immersive Quantum takes it to a new level with innovative technology that allows the audience to eavesdrop on the backstage drama of creation. Each audience member will wear a headset, that one-earpiece staple of Stage Managers everywhere, so you, too, can hear the folks in the booth as well as the actors onstage. This combination makes for a rare insight into the rhythms, joys, and frustrations of making theatre.

Washburn’s clever comedy is an ultimately moving love letter to the theater and to the people who work to create the beautiful, funny, unexpected worlds that live on the stage. Director Andrew William Smith and Sound Designer Steve Shapiro navigate 10 Out of 12’s jaw-dropping complexity so you can enjoy the ride in the dazzlingly gorgeous Art Deco gem of an auditorium cozily nestled below ground level in the Mellon Institute on Fifth Avenue.

Pride & Prejudice

Heritage Players
May 8 – 17, 2026

  • by Kate Hamil

This isn't your grandmother's Austen! Bold, surprising, boisterous, and timely, this P&P for a new era explores the absurdities and thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match in life. The outspoken Lizzy Bennet is determined to never marry, despite mounting pressure from society. But can she resist love, especially when that vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aggravating Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?! Literature's greatest tale of latent love has never felt so theatrical, or so full of life than it does in this effervescent adaptation. Because what turns us into greater fools... than the high-stakes game of love?

Beloved buffoon Sir John Falstaff has fallen on hard times. But being a ladies’ man (or so he’d like to think), he drunkenly schemes to cash in on his wit and charm by wooing the wealthy wives of Windsor, Alice Ford and Meg Page. However, when these women uncover that he has sent them both identical love letters, they hatch a plan of their own to teach Falstaff a lesson he won’t soon forget!

The music matches the merriment and mischief of this madcap romp. See why Verdi’s buoyant comedy, based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, is considered one of the best comedic operas of all time!

Steel Magnolias

Stage 62
May 8-17, 2026

  • Written by Robert Harling; Steel Magnolias is presented by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, a Concord Theatricals Company. www.dramatists.com

The action is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, ("I'm not crazy, I've just been in a bad mood for forty years"); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), is about to marry a "good ole boy."

Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy in the second act, and the characters must draw on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.

Falstaff

corningworks
May 14 - 23, 2026

  • FOOLISH ASSUMPTIONS is sparce, subtle, and perhaps one of Corning’s most gentle works to date. But, as always, bold, topical, and timeless— exploring our current climate of uncertainty and increasingly fraught “jumping-to-judgement” times.

The legendary choreographer Hans Van Manen said, “A ballet for one dancer is a solo, a ballet for two dancers – a story.” Corning strips down the stage to 2 performers & 2 chairs, enabling the audience maximum space to construct their own story to what’s transpiring on stage—which ultimately may well have less to do with plot development than point-of-view.
